Rip Audio CDs

Using sound-juicer

sudo aptitude install sound-juicer

using grip and FLAC codec

run grip: Alt + F2 → grip

Set up:

  • Config → CD
  • CD drive: /dev/scd0 (if it doesn't find the CD with /dev/cdrom)
  • Config → Encode → Encoder
  • Encoder: flac
  • Encoder executable: /usr/bin/flac
  • FLAC Encoder command-line:
    -V -o %m %w -T "ARTIST=%A" -T "TRACKNUMBER=%t" -T "ALBUM=%d" -T "TITLE=%n" -T "GENRE=%G" -T "DATE=%y" -T "DISCID=%i" -T "TRACKTOTAL=%N"
  • Encode file format: ~/ogg/%A/%d/%t_%n.%x
  • Config → Rip → Ripper → Rip file format: ~/ogg/%A/%d/%n.wav
  • Config → ID3
  • add ID3 Tags: enabled
  • add ID3v2 Tags: enabled
  • Config → Misc
  • Email adresse: entered
  • Show Tray Icon: no

using grip and mp3

sudo aptitude install grip lame vorbis-tools gstreamer0.10-plugins-ugly-multiverse

using cdparanoia and lame

cdparanoia -w -B


lame -b 320 inputfile outputfile
