cd .gnome2/gedit/plugins
wget http://neednom.com/bfisher/blog/geditplugin/regex_replace.tar.gz
tar -xf regex_replace.tar.gz
rm regex_replace.tar.gz

Then open gedit and select Edit → Preferences → Plugins and activate the regex plugin
